If you are in the Seabrook area looking for a Chicken Fried Steak, head to Kemah and T Bone Tom’s and bypass Seabrook.
I ventured out to the Seabrook Classic Café to continue my search for the Best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas. Well, it didn’t happen. Here are the facts. The waitress had no idea how big the Chicken Fried Steak was. She showed me with her hands how big she thought it was. She did say it’s prepared to order. The roughly 6 oz Chicken Fried Steak had a nicely seasoned breading, but the breading fell apart after each cut. The meat was thicker than most, and was just okay.
The mashed potatoes were tasteless, but the green beans were good. Here is a major nay, nay. They put the watery green beans on the same plate as the Chicken Fried Steak which meant the bottom of the Chicken Fried Steak was soggy and tasted like green beans.
The white gravy was very thick, peppery and probably the best part of the meal. It also came with Texas toast (it actually looked like Delaware toast) The cost is $10.00.
Who is that mapped man? It’s the Texas Travelin’ Man.
