Christmas may have come and gone, but all of the extra pounds I put on are clearly still around! So I guess it might be wise to put down my fork and head outside for a nice, long walk! Lucky for me, the holiday season is also still around, which means when I pay a visit to my in-laws in Austin this weekend, I can head over to beautiful Lake Marble Falls where I can not only burn off some of those calories but do so in a spectacular winter wonderland!
Lake Marble Falls, which is centrally located in the Texas Hill Country town of Marble Falls, is still presenting its annual Walkway of Lights exhibition! The Walkway of Lights is a dazzling, self-guided stroll along the shoreline of Lake Marble Falls. Here you will not only be amazed by the millions of lights illuminating over 200 patriotic, religious, traditional (and not so traditional) sculptures, but you’ll also be thrilled by the sight of the twinkling lights reflecting on the lake.
People from all over the World come to Lake Marble Falls to experience the wonders of the Walkway of Lights and to join the locals in celebrating the holiday season. Admission is free, but donations are accepted and greatly appreciated. The hundreds of dedicated volunteers who present this event are only able to do so through donations and the generosity of sponsors.
The Walkway of Lights is open nightly from 6:00-10:00 pm through January 1st. If you have never spent a night walking through this winter wonderland, there’s still time. (For more info, visit the Walkway of Lights Facebook page)
I want to thank all of my faithful readers for traveling with me this past year! Wishing you all a wonderful New Year, filled with many opportunities to hit the road!
