Spring Into Texas for Some Fun-Filled Springtime Events!

Texas is a great state to visit at any time of the year…but the month of May kicks off festival season, making it a perfect time for a Texas getaway. There just seems to be so many cool things happening here in next few weeks, I thought I’d list a few for you.


boatracingslidesPort Neches RiverFest

Port Neches | now through May 3
This unique, 4-day festival takes place right on the river. Catch the  “Thunder on the Neches” tunnel boat races, a Car Show and Motorcycle Show, along with a variety of  food vendors. Join in fun competitions such as Horseshoes, Washerboard Shoot out, and a 2 day Fishing Tournament. Enjoy a pet show and a fantastic fireworks display. Website

Texas Crawfish and Music Festival
Old Town Spring  |  now through May 3
Crawfish, crayfish or mud bugs…whatever you call them, they’re on the menu in Old Town Spring (just north of Houston) during this mouth-watering festival. Besides a wide variety of food and drink, there will be plenty of live music, midway games, exotic animals, a petting zoo…all taking place in a lovely, quaint town you’ll also want to explore!  Website

General Sam Houston Folk Festival
Huntsville | May 1 -3
For something completely different, this event turns the grounds of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum into a lively frontier settlement complete with educational demonstrations, reenctments, displays, workshops, ethnic foods, costumed performers and much more. Website | Facebook

Brenham  |  May 1 – 3
Put on your lederhosen, everybody! Maifest is a Texas event with a long history, going back 120 years.  The festival celebrates German heritage with parades, pageants, delicious German food, music and more. Website

The Texas Crab Festival
Crystal Beach  |   May 8 – 10
Here’s one event I definitely will be attending. This festival is in its 30th year and you’ll find a lot more than just delicious crab dishes and other great food items on the menu; you’ll also get to hear some of the best live music in Texas! The Texas Crab Festival features cook-offs, a carnival, a kids’ stage, all types of vendors…truly something for everyone!  Website


Central Texas Airshow

Temple | May 1 -3
Head out to the Draughon-Miller Central Texas Regional Airport for this thrilling annual event. The air show features all types of amazing airplanes to check out and to admire as they perform spectacular feats of aerobatics! Website

Conroe  | May 8 – 9
Professional bull riding returns to Conroe at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center. Event formats include Classic, Maturity short round, Futurity, Jr Futurity and Cowgirl’s For a Cure and great live music.  Website

Pasadena Strawberry Festival
Pasadena  | May 15 – 17
This sweet festival is a tribute to that humble fruit, the strawberry. Featuring strawberry eating contests, sweet strawberry treats, and the world’s biggest strawberry shortcake.
