Santa’s Wonderland: the Biggest Christmas Attraction in Texas
Last year, my wife wanted us to visit Santa’s Wonderland in College Station (a city located 90 miles northwest of Houston in the heart of the Bravos Valley). I heard wonderful things about Santa’s Wonderland, but I also heard about the long lines and hordes of people who attend this popular holiday event…not exactly my cup of tea. So, I told her maybe next year.

Well, next year is here, and being a man of my word, I took her last weekend. Yes, the lines were long and the crowds were out in force, but in spite of all that, I had a wonderful time!
Sprawling across 37 acres, Santa’s Wonderland is hailed as the Biggest Christmas Attraction in Texas.

There is so much to experience at Santa’s Wonderland, but make sure you don’t miss their phenomenal Trail of Lights tour, a mile long journey featuring over 3 million holiday lights! We were  thrilled by the lighted holiday displays, tributes to Texas, and riding through the dazzling lighted tunnels. They offer a hayride tour, but I decided to splurge and do the VIP Horse and Carriage Ride. We huddled together in a white carriage complete with lights and holiday music playing, while a beautiful Clydesdale horse lead us on our way. I can easily seeing this becoming a family tradition!

We also enjoyed checking out the unique shops in Santa’s Town, and then grabbing a bite to eat at the Frostbite Food Village, where you can get handmade goodies prepared on site, including such Tex-Mex favorites as chili, tacos and burritos, burgers, and good old fashioned Texas BBQ! Also available are hot cocoa, funnel cakes, fudge, pies, and much more. And if you really want to get some Christmas cheer, stop by the Wonderland Winery for some of their delicious Wonderland Wines, which are bottled right here in the Lone Star State. There are also fire pits for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores, a petting zoo, pony rides, a giant outdoor movie screen showing classic Christmas movies, live entertainment, and even snow!

We watched a bunch of excited kids taking pictures with Marshall Frostbite, a 7 ft tall snowman, and the main man himself, Santa Claus.

Santa’s Wonderland may not be a “budget” excursion, but if you love Christmas or are looking to get into the Christmas spirit, it’s well worth a visit.

Season’s Greetings!
