Fiesta San Antonio and LuLu’s Bakery & Café

Well I survived Fiesta and can say that if you have never been to Fiesta San Antonio, you have to go at least once. Next year’s date is April 2-17, 2011.My visit was the 2nd weekend of Fiesta and I was able to catch the Parade (on TV). My first Fiesta event was NIOSA (Night in Old San Antonio) which takes place in and around La Vallita and has an $8.00 admission ticket. I met friends at the Marriott Plaza San Antonio, had a few and then walked a couple of blocks to…Read more

Fiesta San Antonio – A Texas Travel Must-See

He’s back.Yes the Texas Travelin’ Man is back - and get ready to read about a lot more places I’ve visited.  And yes, the Chicken Fried Steaks I’ve been eating as I tour Texas. But first I need your help. I’ll be going to Fiesta San Antonio for the first time (the 2nd weekend) and need to know what not to miss. This is your chance to tell ME where to go. Be gentle now. Say goodbye to 2009 and hello to a new decade.

So what can we expect in 2010? If I knew that I wouldn't be writing this blog. I would use my powers to pick Lottery numbers and things like that. If you believe the Doomsday hype, you have less than 3 years to use all your Frequent Flyer Miles. It may take you that long to get a confirmed seat. So here is what I see in 2010 for Texas: Hotel occupancy will increase slightly, but there will be great bargains. You will visit as many Texas cities as possible The best deals…Read more

Wurstfest recap and a visit to Gruene

WurstfestOK you probably think I’m going to use the expression I had the Wusrt time, or it was the Wurst festival I’ve ever been to, or it was the Best of the Wurst, but I wouldn’t do that to you. You expect a lot more and I hope I’ll give it to you. As you know this was my first visit to New Braunfels and Wurstfest and even though I didn’t get to explore New Braunfels the way it should be, Wurstfest was fantastic. Who has the best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas?

What is it about Chicken Fried Steak that causes my stomach to make a funny noise and my lips to begin smacking all by themselves? One can't travel without eating, and when traveling around Texas you have to order a staple, Chicken Fried Steak (CFS). The only problem is if you have too many of these, you may have to staple your stomach.Okay, so here's the challenge. Who makes the best CFS? Now don't tell me it's your uncle Bobby Joe Robbie. I want my CFS from a Café, an Inn, a hole in…Read more

Gallivantin’ in Galveston

Gallivantin' in Galveston, Texas Galveston, Texas continues to make music. There are a few band members missing, but the beat goes on. This was my first visit since Hurricane Ike and my first impression as I drove over the Causeway was things are looking good. The mighty Seawall did its job. It kept Galveston as safe as possible. Just about all the hotels and restaurants in Galveston are open and doing well. One of the best things to come out of Hurricane Ike is the new Galveston Beach. I could tell you how…Read more

A Texas Travel Information Blog – Why not?

A Blog about Texas travel? Why not? What will be different from other Blogs about traveling in Texas? You'll just have to keep reading to find out.Now I'm not a native Texan, but I'm a Traveler. I've lived in Texas since 2005 and have had the opportunity to see just a small part. My goal is to visit every corner of this great state to find the good, the bad (I'm not looking for the bad, but I know it's out there) and the ugly. I'm also very opinionated. So you'll hear about…Read more
